Sunday.
And sunny it was indeed! A great day for some more walking.
I fed some peanuts to Ronald in the morning, made some lunch and then met with @isnogud for a nice long walk in the woods.
We passed by this withering mushroom on a mossy tree stump and even though it's not Friday I still figured it would make for a great subject for this post.
The mushroom by itself is quite interesting already but the scenery, growing on top of this caved in tree stump, really makes it stand out.
If this was a fantasy novel I'm sure there would be something magical inside that cave.
The mushroom itself has undergone a weird process of growth or decay, I'm not so sure. Either it grew so fast that it's skin exploded or it dried out in a particular fashion to make crack like this?!
Usually I would have cleaned some of the pine needles and other forest debris off of the moss to make the pictures pop a little more, but the killer mosquitos were out for my blood and I took these pics quite hastily.
