One night, I took a stroll down the streets to pay homage at a wake. A friend of mine lost her granny. I got to meet her very distressed and disappointed that some of her close friends didn't show up.

I told her about my life's philosophy, "humans are prone to disappoint than come through for u". It's been my therapy to heal whenever I get disappointed by people. Infact, I sometimes get shocked when people come through for what they had promised to do. Well, this is not me being all out pessimistic, but trying not to get drenched or extremely broken should disappointments come forth.
She couldn't take it. I had to switch plans from wanting to spend just some hours at the wake to staying all through the wake till dawn with her.
Fast forward, late through the night, there was light out, some persons left, others became very inactive and lukewarm.

I take wakes literally, like this is a wake so I need to stay awake all through. But we were getting bored and boredom makes u grow dizzy especially late in the night.
I introduced a game. We played, 7 of us, later 8 in number. It was fun, lively and really interesting. Our spirits were lifted. My bereaved friend was laughing and giggling all through.
Dawn came, we took strolls in group to see some persons off.

We got back only to meet the corpse of her granny being set for the journey to the village for final interment. At this point, the reality of life dawned on us ( my friend and her family especially).

There's this cold, agonizing and traumatizing reflex that ignites in us when we realize the transition of our loved ones from the life here to the life after.😢😭

My friend let loose. She had been sound, excited and very less bereaved through the night but at this moment she couldn't help but cry😭😢. A friend hugged her as she cried. I patted her to comfort her. I was even short of words.
