If you are in a relationship where you are always sad, it means you have dated the wrong person. It's normal to sad in Relationships, relationships sometimes hurt us. However, it shouldn't be too frequent. If you find yourself in a relationship where you are never happy, there's a high probability that you have dated the wrong man. I'm not saying the right man won't make you sad, however, it's going to be once in a while.
If you find yourself in a relationship where you seek for attention, time etc it could mean you are in the wrong Relationship. If you are with the right man or woman, attention will be given to you because you deserve it, you don't need to seek for your partner's attention every time.
If you are dating a man who beats you, I don't need to tell you that you are dating the wrong person. Someone who physically abuses you can never be the right man. There are good men out there who will treat you better.
If you are in a relationship like that, you need to quit such. Such relationship will take away your happiness. What then is the point of staying in a relationship where one isn't happy?
