I've been dealing with a torn rotator cuff for a few years, and have avoided surgery. It still hurts (granted, I've also been dealing with a a now four year old over the past four years), but it does feel better. I still can't raise my right arm or throw a baseball properly, but it does feel better at the very least due to time.
