Anyone here ever suffer from a Rotator Cuff Injury ?

in health •  3 years ago  (edited)

I seem to have a Rotator Cuff Injury.

I am unable to bend my right arm behind my back. (Due to pain in my shoulder )

It is also very difficult to put a shirt or coat on. Typically I put my left arm then my right arm into the sleeve, but I am unable to do this.

There are long wait times to see any doctors and I always prefer to heal myself with exercise and diet.

Has anyone experienced this injury ?

It seems to have started at the end of December. I don’t recall any specific event and thought it was just a sore arm and shoulder from using my iPad and iPhone too much.

I tried ice at first, now I am trying a heating pad.

Lots of online sites recommend ibuprofen for pain and light exercise to ensure blood flow for healing.

It sounds like it could be healed in 2-4 weeks (I am on week 3) ….. or, it could take many months.

I found this information online so I will also try these exercises.

Any other advice ?

Rotator cuff treatment

The minimum time for recovery from rotator cuff tendinitis or a small tear is generally two to four weeks, and stubborn cases can take several months. Early on, the aim is to reduce swelling and inflammation of the tendons and relieve compression in the subacromial space. Later, exercises can be started to strengthen the muscles and improve range of motion.

During the first few days of rotator cuff tendinitis, apply an ice pack to the shoulder for 15 to 20 minutes every four to six hours. If you still have a lot of pain, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), such as ibuprofen, may be helpful. Your clinician may also suggest a corticosteroid injection, but there's no clear evidence that this offers any advantage in the long term over physical therapy and NSAID use.

I have. It was very bad, I could not use my right arm at all. I got it from pulling a motor starter.

I went straight to surgery after several weeks of pain, but would not do that again - the recovery took nearly a year, something they do not tell you before they cut you open. If it were to happen again, I would do natural healing strategies especially comfrey and arnica, rest, and physical therapy (or better yet rolfing if you can find it) after a good month of allowing it to heal. I am not a fan of ice. What good does cutting off the blood flow do? Heat is better.

Good luck!

Thank you very much for this input. Yes… I want to avoid surgery. My wife has told me all the same things…. And I am using Arnica (in massage oil). What about a heating pad ? Set on low heat for only 15 minutes at a time… . It seems to give some relief. Does it help with healing ?

Yes heat is very good, the way you are doing it. Take an epsom salt bath too. Did you take any homeopathic arnica orally (those little white balls)? Tea. Stay warm overall.
Castor oil poultice would help with inflammation and pain if it gets really bad, but pain is a communication tool, tells me what not to do, and if there has been any healing. Honor the pain is a motto of mine. I take uncoated aspirin if pain gets really bad and nothing else gives relief.
Let your shoulder tell you what to do, so it can do the work of healing itself.
Mind you, I got surgery! This is what I would do if it happened to me today. This method has worked for other sudden injuries.

Good afternoon. I had a similar situation for a very long time, about 30 years. The pain usually came on after long walks or when I was on my feet a lot. This pain was my legacy of service in the Army, the great physical exertion had an effect. I have had painkillers in the pocket of my clothes for many years in a row. On the advice of smart people, he began to do physical exercises in the morning, and within 2 years the pain disappeared. I don't know how to explain it, but it's a fact. The shoulder stopped hurting. You may need my information. Thank you sir. I wish you success.

Thank you very much. I am going to try and rest my shoulder. Using my other arm more.

I'd find a good chiropractor or osteopath - depending on which is more popular near you.

I was been to the Chiropractics but it never got fully nice again , i have multiple Health issues with this is one of the Included ones , my bad luck it hit me rightsided ...

Oh! Very sad news sir!
I have no idea about it's treatment. But I would like to tell you that when I used to play cricket and bowled a lot, I suffered such kind of rotator cuff injury. It was very tough to me. I couldn't bowl properly with pace. That's why, I had to give up fast bowling and I started spin bowling. Slowly slowly it has come to an end and now I have no rotator cuff injury.

I pray you will be free from this pain.

This is a very sad thing. But I have not knowledge and talent about it. God may protect you.

I've been dealing with a torn rotator cuff for a few years, and have avoided surgery. It still hurts (granted, I've also been dealing with a a now four year old over the past four years), but it does feel better. I still can't raise my right arm or throw a baseball properly, but it does feel better at the very least due to time.

rotator cuff injury , you balance your shoulder loose back and forth with no force and you apply lavender oil .
