Eye Care - Don't ignore these symptoms.

My eyes started feeling itchy two days ago. It started as a mild itching and caused a little discomfort that evening, but it suddenly got worse after each moment.

From my observation, It starts getting itchy as soon as I wake up. My upper and lower eyelashes merge as if they are glued together while my eyelids hurt like crazy. It feels as if it hurts far deeper and then the sclera of my eyes looks reddish in appearance.

I think the redness of some parts of the sclera is partly due to my attempt to control the itching of the eyes. I tried as much as possible to not use my bare hands rather I used a clean fabric (handkerchief) to do so. Still, I guess I could have been more careful than I was.

The worst part of the experience happened last night. I was struggling to see what was on the screen of my phone and laptop. The light that was coming out of the screen felt amplified. Every moment I tried to focus on the screen, it felt like someone was flickering a very bright light on my eyes.

This has been the situation in my eyes since two days ago. It feels like there is a mixture of sand gummed to my eyelids but there is no such thing there. Yet it itches like crazy and every attempt to solve this makes the eyes more reddened.

Taking a medical approach to this;

By the time I woke up this morning, my eyes were feeling very heavy - in addition to all the other symptoms I mentioned. I imagined that leaving this to take a natural course will only affect the activities I do with my gadgets so, I decided to visit an eye clinic.

They prescribed an eyedrop which is to be used 2 drops on each eye, 3 times per day.

I've used 8 drops of this today, 2 drops for each eye, twice so far. I will apply it again before going to bed.

I've been feeling better since I started using the eyedrops. At the moment, I'm looking up some stuff on my laptop and typing with my phone. It doesn't hurt as much as it did yesterday so, I'm glad about the positive effect of this.

N.B: This doesn't suggest you should prescribe an eyedrop for yourself. If you are having a similar issue, meet professionals and flow with their guidelines.

Additional effort for improved eye Care

Because of the nature of what I do, I spend most of each day (night inclusive) using my phone or laptop. To be sure that these won't lead to any sort of eye deformity in the future, I decided (based on recommendation) to buy a pair of photochromic anti-blue light glasses.

I got one from the official store of Jumia which comes with a notable discount and it will be delivered tomorrow.

Nice. I will have to use this from tomorrow onwards while working on my phone or laptop.

That's it.

Have a splendid day.

Take good care of your health.
