First Cooking Day!

Today I am going to write about our first cooking day. Until 5th May, Harith's mother provided food for us. His first house is near by our house so she helped us by providing food.

We decided to cook food our own from the Vesak poya day. We specially selected that day as we can offer the first portion of the food we cooked to Buddha on the poya day.

We already received many items from my parents and then we purchased rest of the items from shop. As we had a plan of going on a trip on 6th we didn't purchased any vegetables at the moment.

On the day before we planned what we are going to cook. We selected easy ones that we can cook without vegetables. For the morning it was Milk rice and chili sambal.

Personally I didn't cook anything just by my self at home. So I took this task serious. Harith helped me in every step by arranging necessary ingredients. We could successfully finish milkrice and sambal within 45 minutes. Also cleaned up the pots and other tools as well.

Then we spent some time on sweeping and dusting and then until 10.30 we watched a TV series. As we spent lots of past days for house works we didn't have enough time for relaxing. So until next cooking time we watched three episodes of the TV series.

For lunch we thought to go for a vegi lunch. We cooked Dhal curry, a soya meat curry and a Gotukola Sambal. I thought it will take lots of time but together we could finish everything within an hour. The food came better than we expected.

In the evening we lighted Vesak lanterns and some light bulbs commemorating vesak day. For the dinner we had food remaining from the lunch time with some curries served by mother. Our first cooking day was a success!

I really enjoy when I cook next to my wife. I can say that it is a unique experience because I cook totally differently from the way she does, and although we do not agree on the ways, what we cook always tastes delicious, and thus, we all win.

Life is a journey, and you have to enjoy every step we take.

Even though I am new to this life experience, what I understand is, Patience is the most important point of a happy life.
