In my village the modernized way of preparing palm oil is not rampant so we usually use the local way.
Steps in preparing it, first you have to get the palm fruit.
Then you will have to pieces the bunch it is called - eke nkwu in my language
This was done by my Dad actually.
Then after it will be left for about two to three day so as to it would be soften for easy removal .
Then the picking will start, we call it -itutu nkwu in my language.
After picking it this is how it looks
Then the cooking will start.
After cooking, the pounding it is called -isu nkwu in my language.
The red sand is added to preserve the oil.
Then itu nkwu
Then washing of avuvu and kernel
Then pressing the avuvu to get the oil
Then here comes the oil
