I have always been a great admirer of this beautiful vine. Since my childhood I have seen this plant growing at many places and it's flowers had the great impact on my perception towards flowers and vine. As I grew up, gardening became my hobby and I researched about this plant in details and now it is an inseparable part of my garden and a place like heaven is possible at my backyard garden.
These beautiful vines you see in this image is orange trumpet vine which is only 2 years old and covered all my stairway and the pillars along with it. I grew it from a small cutting and it has grown really beautiful and vigorously at the same time. It has crossed 30 feet in height as you can see the low angle shots in these pictures.
These three views I have taken from the ground and at the base of this orange trumpet vine you can see neon colors sweet potato vine which also looks very beautiful with dark green leaves. The thick woody stems when matured become very strong and can't be bent easily so I trained them in the early phase when they were green to intertwine with my steel railings along with the stairs.
It grows really fast and blooms heavily during the summer time. It's scientific name is campsis radicans and is a great attraction to hummingbirds and butterflies. In landscaping it is largely used for trellis, arches and fences. The beautiful, trumpet shaped flowers range in color from yellow to orange or red. When grown near other plants or foundation, we should have a close look and keep its growth under control as it can kill other plants and damage the weak structures easily.
It is really a great treat to the eyes when the flowers bloom in clusters. The whole vine is covered with beautiful blooms when grown in full sun. It can be grown in any type of soil and drought tolerant. No major pest attack is seen on it. You can enjoy the sunbirds, hummingbirds sweet voices all day long. Even the sunbirds start coming on it since early in the morning around 5 o'clock. The very first thing after waking up in the morning I do is simply enjoy the arrivals of sunbirds and flying from one branch to other.
When there are clouds in the sky, the views look just breathtaking and we can't take our eyes off it. People passing by our home are forced to stop and spend some time watching the beauty of the beauty of these flowers.
Let me know out of these beautiful views which one you enjoyed the most.
