While nuclear power contributes less than 6 percent to Germany’s power mix, for Bavaria, it’s double that: The Isar II plant near Munich generates about 12 percent of the state’s electricity. The region’s gas storage is also filled at below average.
Bavaria is also too far away from the coast to benefit from wind power.
To the rest of Europe it seems like a no-brainer to extend the life of the nuclear power plants for six months to summer 2023.
The desperation of the anti-nuclear lobby to close the nuclear power plants in December, even in the face of economic catastrophe seems ... weird.
Do they think they'll get re-elected if entire industries have to close down?
Their behaviour is not rational. To outsiders it feels like Russian mischief is at work, using the anti-nuclear lobby as "useful idiots".
