ATTENTION TO BLURT COMMUNITIES
Good morning Blurtians, would like to take us through some important ICT techies so as to know to explore internet securely and prevent leakage of confidential data and information on this blog.

For those who come across postings promising free money, free satellite subscription, free internet data, free services, free shipping and so on.

Let me guide you on some basic ICT techies. Any Link that starts with "http " is most likely a phishing link and they mostly known not to be secured, so once noticed try to avoid clicking through such domains.

Phishing is usually intended to get your Personal and Confidential details including but not limited to your date of Birth, Bank Account Number, Passwords, User Id and so. For the purposes of SCAM and getting away with your personal information which can be disastrous if fall into wrong hands

BE AT ALERT AND SMART

This is how Scammers and Hackers steal your identity information and use them to Scam you or even your contacts or any other unsuspecting individuals.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING TIPS AS THEY CAN GO A LONG WAY IN PREVENTING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION TO GET INTO SCAMMERS AND PHISHERS

1- Avoid random and malicious links.

2- Avoid all these Free Data links as they are mostly phishing links

3- Telecommunication companies and many other internet providers are not sharing data or airtime, via WhatsApp, Twitter, FB and the rest

4- The Government is not giving jobs, free money, palliatives and other benefits via social media platforms such as whatsap, Instagram, Pinterest among others.
Government has its own domain for getting in touch with its citizens or through their accredited media platforms.

5- Your Bank is not sharing Money via WhatsApp, telegram or any social media network. They get back to you through your submitted numbers or mails which you still need to verify when you get information there as scammers can still clone your Bank to deceive and get what they need from you if you are not aware.

ACTION
Be Smart and Ignore those links for your Own Benefit and Protection.

Stop forwarding as received without adequate Checking and Verification because you might put someone's life in danger or even be charged for defamation.
There is no free cash or anything of such on the internet for you to be realistic with your instincts.

There is neither free Airtime
nor free Data anywhere in the social media platforms via clicking links and personal information insertion

Know the difference between http and https? Please make sure you read this to the end to prevent yourself and your friends from falling to scams

Some of you may be aware of this difference and uniqueness but it is worth sharing for many that are short of the tip.

The main difference between http:// and https://
is all about SECURITY and getting PROTECTED

HTTP stands for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol.
The S stands for "Secure".
If you visit web page, and look at the address bar in the web browser and it begins with the following: http://

Stay off from such a website because it is interacting with your browser using
the regular unsecured language. Moreover, it is possible for someone to "eavesdrop" or "target" your computer or smart phone's conversation with the Website. This could make your information fall into wrong hands, so avoid filling out any forms on such a website.

This is why you should NEVER enter your credit card details or any other personal/business information in an
Http website!

But if the web address begins with https://, that means your device is interacting with the website in a
Secure code that none can eavesdrop on.

Now, you should understand why it is necessary for you to know about these ICT techie stuffs.

If a website ever asks you to enter your personal financial data or any other Information, or promises Freebies, you should be proactive to see if the web
address begins with https://.

If it doesn't, you should NEVER enter sensitive Information such as personal identities, financial details such as credit card/ debit card numbers, addresses among others.

Even if it is HTTPS which is secure 🔐 with lock sign noticed in the address bar of your web browser you should make further confirmation from people and other reliable sources before entering your details as a scammer can also create a HTTPS URL address.

"While checking the name of any website, first look for the domain extension (.com or .org, .co, .in, .net etc). The name just before the .com, .org etc is the domain name of the website".Source
Take note very important.

Example, http://ebay.something-something.com, the word before .com is "something-something" (and NOT "ebay").
So, this webpage does not belong to ebay.com but rather belongs to "something-something.com", which likely some people haven't heard of before.

Remember that "something-something" could be anything. It depends on the phisher's choice of address and that is website cloning design.

You can similarly check out for financial frauds.

Before providing and entering your ebanking logins and data, make sure that the name just before ".com" is the name of your bank or financial services.

Example: "Something.mastercard.com" belongs to mastercard; but, mastercard.something.com belongs to "something". So beware of the preceding characters in the website address. Remember a website could be cloned.

Hopefully, everyone have learned something new and beneficial now please educate and enlighten others so they can also be safe and protected against these manipulations.
