Selecting Curtains | Part II

Yesterday I spoke about how we started our curtain activity. After the initial study, we started taking quotations for the work. As always we want to find the best deal.

We gave them sizes of 5 windows, without doors to do the estimations. So anyway the first place gave us 88525 LKR for the curtain. Likewise, we contacted 4 other shops to take estimations. They offered us 75 000, 83 000, 99 000 and 98 000. I am just adding the least round numbers. The 99 000 estimations gave from a shop at Aluthgama. 75 000 estimations gave from a shop available on Facebook that does curtains islandwide. This cost contains transport costs as well. It's a good deal anyway.

All the shops had the same quality and all of their work seemed good. So the budget and the distance was our concern of picking the shop. The Facebook store, we loved to try but we really can't visit their shop and touch the material. Once visiting to Aluthgama shop we realized the materials are not like we see in photos. So we really wanted to touch them and see the real colors before selecting them.

The person who gave 83 000 estimations seemed very good and supportive. Most importantly he is from Karandeniya which we can easily reach. So we visited his place to discuss the work.

Our biggest problem was the color.. Offwhite was the obvious color for the inner color we had some confusion. We had the doubt whether we go for greenish color or yellowish color. When we visit the shop the sample material card hadn't any green color that matched our desire, so we pick a dark yellow color with off-white. The outer material was linen and the inner material we picked is some other material that had a little transparency. For rooms, we picked a similar color to wall.

In addition to windows, we ordered door curtains as well.

The person came to our house and took measurements. Hopefully, we'll recieve our curtains within the upcoming week. So excited to see the final outcome
