A Brief Writeup About Virtual Reality

Good day to anyone reading this. Today, I learned about a very important development in technology, which I would like to share. It's all about virtual reality. Virtual reality has a history dating back to the 1990s, but adoption was very low until the birth of blockchain technology, which emerged to fully fulfill the most important functionalities of virtual reality. What is virtual reality and how does it relate to blockchain technology?

Virtual reality, as the name implies, is a technology that allows individuals to have a virtual or immersive experience of real events. They can safely enjoy things happening in reality virtually and simulate them via their computers. The two main features of virtual reality includes immersion and interactions. The experiences in virtual reality are extremely immersive and users can have interactions and explorations with them. They are able to control the environments on their computers, and they can also look around to have peer-to-peer interactions with other viewers and objects in the scene. So far, the most widely used equipment for virtual reality is the VR headset, with which people can put on to display the 3D world by blocking the outside world.

The virtual reality environments of nowadays are 3D-based and they are developed to render extremely closer to real simulations for users. The interactions and controls are usually carried on with the use of various forms of electronic equipment. With the necessary technologies, users can enter and exit the VR environments at any time.

Many people, including myself, got to know about virtual reality through the gaming industry. However, as technology keeps advancing, different sectors are now implementing the concept of virtual reality to render their services, and the most notable of them is the blockchain technology. I think the blockchain and VR technology are a perfect match due to the concepts behind these two revolutionary technologies and some important features of the blockchain technologies like data-backup,immutability, and copyright of data.

Meter-verse projects in blockchain technology such as Decentraland, The Alien Worlds, Bloktopia, MoBox, Alice My Neighbour and many others are using the concept of virtual reality . Facebook is also implementing the concept of virtual reality in the form of metaverse. This was announced last year and both are currently under development. VR is also used in a variety of industries, including healthcare, advertising, education, tourism, space, military, and many more, which I will discuss in future posts.Most of these industries are working tirelessly to make VR easily accessible to everyone, and this is going to be a wonderful development.
