How to Solve the Fiber Mess - Part 02

After creating the plan we started to look for devices and prices. Believe me, full copper network cable costs 300 LKR per meter in many shops. After multiple checks, we could found the best price as 200 lkr per meter. We needed 15m to extend the network to the desired location.

For access points, we had options like Prolink, tp-link, d link, and Azus. We decided to go with an Azus 3 in one extender which also we can use as an extender, access point, and router. It also had two network ports out so we thought it would be a good purchase. Once all the equipment was done, the next mission was to install the setup. As we wanted to keep it neat, we had to purchase casings too.

Before installing Harith and I tested the setup by placing the cable through our living room to the upper floor. First, we tested without network cables and we were able to receive a low speed than the fiber connection. Then we thought to get the data through the network cables to the signal extender and we were able to achieve our desired fiber speed to the upper floor area.

When we use the network cables, we got a speed double that of the previous step without cable. The next day, the electrician came and did the setup in a clean way using casings. We wanted to have a minimum damage to the wall and we wanted to have a pleasant look after the setup. He did it perfectly as we expected.

Anyway, We had to pay a higher cost than a new fiber connection just for taking signals to the upper floor. What an excellent fiber connection we have..😂
