Today's Activity( Escoda Day)
•GIRL SCOUT WEEK and Founder's Birthday is observed annually every September. Josefa Llanes Escoda's birthday which is on September 20, falls within this period. Founder's day is celebrated with Josefa Llanes Escoda Memento Ceremonies where troops contribute their share to the Escoda Memorial Fund.

•The Twinkler Law
A Twinkler is cheerful, kind and helpful.

*Development of the Movement
Girl Scouting in the Philippines began as early as 1918 with GSUSA troops organised by American Missionaries, but it was not until 1939 that the Girl Scout Movement was formally launched following GSP Founder Josefa Llanes Escoda's arrival from an intensive Girl Scout training in the USA. In 1940, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines was chartered as a national organisation.

•The first national Girl Scouts' rally and the first leaders' training conference were held in 1941, and during the Second World War, although the Association suspended its activities, Girl Scout leaders committed themselves to serve the victims and prisoners of war. After the war, the leaders set about rebuilding the Association and received much public support.

•The National Council Convention, held every three years, is the Association's highest consultative and deliberative body which serves as a forum for guidelines, policies and directions. It is represented by the 37 members of the Central Board, Charter/Life members, Council Presidents and delegates elected from each Council as their duly designated representatives as may be prescribed by the Central Board. The Central Board is the highest policy-making body that meets semi-annually. The National Officers and Chairpersons of Standing Committees make up the Executive Committee which is responsible for governing the affairs of the organisation together with the professional staff.

*For Girls 4 to 6 years of age
•The age range for each age level is flexible. Exceptions may be made. Girls may join at any level. They do not have to go through the Twinkler level before they can join the Star level and so on. A troop leader takes up only one age level. It will be difficult for both the leader and the girls if the unit or troop were composed of girls of varying ages, for obvious reasons. Each age level is distinct in activities, uniform, insignia, but all levels have these in common:

*Make the Promise
•use the small group or patrol method
•committed to do the Good Turn
•encourage girls to make decisions
•learn by doing
•belong to the national organization and the WAGGGS

*As they move or progress through the age levels, girls want to be seen as “growing up”. This is one reason why each age level is different but has similarities to the others.
