Carrots Weren't Always Orange

in carrots •  4 years ago

Carrots are an amazing vegetable full of vitamins, antioxidants and fibre. I love putting carrots into my salads, stews and soups.

You might not know that carrots were originally white or purple and much thinner in size. A genetic mutation would shift the colour from purple to yellow first.

After selective farming, a new orange carrot would arise with a much better taste. They are just as healthy today and orange carrots are the common vegetable of our planet.
