There lived an old man who had only a child and were staying in a small hut. He had been a widower for 10yrs and he has been the one taking care of the only child left with him. His wife died during labor and he named him Jesse.
It was really tough as he had to keep going to hunt for animals in the forest to feed himself and the child. The man tried his best to protect him and never allowed any harm to come near him. The man being named as Kachi would always read stories to Jesse before going to bed and this made him grow to become addicted to reading books.
He was enrolled in a primary school, and that was when he clocked 5yrs because of lack of money to go at an early age. This didn't stop Jesse from being the best in his class as he became the teachers' favorite and most of the pupils as others were jealous of him.
Jesse had always been mocked by children in the neighborhood and they would always call him a child with no mother whose father is very old but he never allowed that to distract his focus on becoming great. He would always lock himself up to study hard with books he borrowed from the school library. His father couldn't afford buying textbooks for him because what they earned was only enough to feed them daily. This has been happening until one certain day, the boy went to school and never returned back.
Jesse's only route was through the thick forest and he has always walked alone by himself, not until something strange happened. Kachi expected him to be back at a particular time but it was not so. He stood up, went to the school to ask of him but they all chorused that Jesse had gone home.
This made Kachi worried and sad. He was breathing heavily when he turned to start looking for his only hope. He searched everywhere in the forest, called his name, but nowhere to be found. He never returned home unless he found Jesse but day turned night while still searching for him. He made up his mind never to return home until he was found. Days turned weeks as he kept searching without giving hope.
After two months of endless searching and not a ray of hope shone on him, he turned back and saw a big tree, he sat for a while before continuing his journey of looking for his son. He only slept for a few minutes when suddenly, he heard a creeping movement in the forest. With his stick in his hand, he went silent to listen from where the movement was coming from but when he couldn't see anything, he sighed and closed his eyes until he heard a voice behind him.
"Is it your son you are looking for which made you become so tired and weary in the forest?"
He turned back and asked "Who are you please?"
The voice continued "I am the forest keeper instructed to keep watch over this forest which I have been doing so for many years"
*"Can you please show your face so I wouldn't be talking to an unseen being?"
"Can you withstand my presence if I reveal my face? And what has my face got to do with the matter on ground? Is my face the one you seek or your son?"*
"My son? How come? How did it happen? What have you done to my son?" Kachi couldn't stop asking numerous questions with his worried face and his body shaking.
"Yes, your son has been with me ever since he was lost in the forest. He was lured by some guys who wanted to kill him but I intervened immediately when I saw he was your son"
"How? How did you know he was my son?"
"Well, since you have forgotten, I will remind you. Do you remember the little girl you saved some years back while returning back from school?"
Kachi tried to flashback to the past but he couldn't until something blew past him and he remembered clearly where he was walking in the forest one day, hunting for some meat for his wife when he heard the cry of a girl. As he moved closer to where the voice was coming from, he saw the girl being tied to a tree with some calabash circling around her. It seems she was about to be sacrificed. Two men were with her as they didn't want her to escape.
Kachi hid himself around the leaves, trying to think of how to save her when he blew the whistle with him. This made the two men turn to see who it was and they began to search the forest. Kachi moved closer when they disappeared from the scene and hurriedly untied her and began the race.
They pursued both him and the girl until they got somewhere and he pointed at a road for her to keep running and find her way. He had to stop to face the men and it was a great battle that left a wound on his right arm until this day, though he killed the men with his bravery skill.
"Now, I remembered..So how does that concern my child?"
"The girl you saved that day was my only child and when she got home, she narrated all that happened and even described you. Ever since then we have been searching for you and the day we saw you was when you were mourning your wife. My child died eventually after some months but because of what you did that day, I have been protecting your son ever since then"
Kachi was shocked and quickly thanked the voice but asked a question "How come you are now the forest keeper?"
"I went in search of power when my only child died and I wanted a revenge, I was given a condition which was to be a forest keeper once I have taken my revenge and ever since then, I have used my power to keep your son safe even though he was injured but I assure you, he is fine"
"How do I see my son please? He is the only hope I have"
"Kachi, turn back and start going home. Your son is waiting for you at home"
Immediately, he took to his heels and when he got home, he met his son lying down on a mat outside sleeping. Kachi couldn't hide his joy as he hugged and kissed Jesse.
An act of kindness will always return back even when you think you have forgotten but the one who you helped didn't forget.

Se matriculó en una escuela primaria, y fue entonces cuando cumplió 5 años por falta de dinero para ir a una edad temprana. Esto no impidió que Jesse fuera el mejor de su clase, ya que se convirtió en el favorito de los profesores y de la mayoría de los alumnos, ya que los demás estaban celosos de él.
Jesse siempre fue objeto de burlas por parte de los niños del vecindario y siempre le llamaban niño sin madre cuyo padre es muy viejo, pero nunca permitió que eso distrajera su atención para llegar a ser grande. Siempre se encerraba a estudiar mucho con libros que tomaba prestados de la biblioteca del colegio. Su padre no podía permitirse comprarle libros de texto porque lo que ganaban sólo les alcanzaba para alimentarse a diario. Esto ha ido sucediendo hasta que un día determinado, el chico se fue a la escuela y nunca más volvió.
La única ruta de Jesse era a través del espeso bosque y siempre ha caminado solo, no hasta que ocurrió algo extraño. Kachi esperaba que volviera a una hora determinada pero no fue así. Se levanto, fue a la escuela a preguntar por el pero todos corearon que Jesse se habia ido a casa.
Esto hizo que Kachi se preocupara y entristeciera. Respiraba con dificultad cuando se dio la vuelta para empezar a buscar su única esperanza. Buscó por todo el bosque, gritó su nombre, pero no lo encontró por ningún lado. Nunca volvió a casa si no encontraba a Jesse, pero el día se convirtió en noche mientras seguía buscándolo. Decidió no volver a casa hasta que lo encontraran. Los días se convirtieron en semanas mientras seguía buscando sin dar esperanzas.
Después de dos meses de búsqueda interminable y sin que le brillara un rayo de esperanza, se volvió y vio un gran árbol, se sentó un rato antes de continuar su viaje de búsqueda de su hijo. Solo durmió unos minutos cuando de repente, escuchó un movimiento rastrero en el bosque. Con su bastón en la mano, se quedó en silencio para escuchar de donde provenía el movimiento pero al no poder ver nada, suspiró y cerró los ojos hasta que escuchó una voz detrás de él.
"¿Es tu hijo lo que buscas, lo que te hizo estar tan cansado y fatigado en el bosque? "
Se volvió y preguntó "¿Quién es usted, por favor? "
La voz continuó "Soy el guardabosques al que se le ha encomendado vigilar este bosque, lo que he estado haciendo durante muchos años"
"¿Puedes mostrar tu cara para que no esté hablando con un ser invisible? "
"¿Puedes soportar mi presencia si revelo mi rostro? ¿Y qué tiene que ver mi rostro con el asunto en cuestión? ¿Es mi rostro el que buscas o el de tu hijo? ".
"¿Mi hijo? ¿Cómo es eso? ¿Cómo ha sucedido? ¿Qué le has hecho a mi hijo? " Kachi no podía dejar de hacer numerosas preguntas con su cara de preocupación y su cuerpo temblando.
"Sí, tu hijo está conmigo desde que se perdió en el bosque. Fue atraído por unos tipos que querían matarlo, pero intervine inmediatamente cuando vi que era tu hijo ".
"¿Cómo? ¿Cómo sabías que era mi hijo? "
"Bueno, ya que lo has olvidado, te lo recordaré. ¿Te acuerdas de la niña que salvaste hace unos años cuando volvías de la escuela? "
Kachi intentó volver al pasado pero no pudo hasta que algo pasó por delante de él y recordó claramente que un día estaba caminando por el bosque, cazando algo de carne para su mujer, cuando oyó el grito de una niña. Al acercarse al lugar de donde provenía la voz, vio a la niña atada a un árbol con unas calabazas dando vueltas a su alrededor. Al parecer, estaba a punto de ser sacrificada. Dos hombres la acompañaban porque no querían que se escapara.
Kachi se escondió entre las hojas, tratando de pensar en cómo salvarla cuando sonó el silbato con él. Esto hizo que los dos hombres se giraran para ver de quién se trataba y comenzaron a buscar en el bosque. Kachi se acercó cuando desaparecieron de la escena y se apresuró a desatarla y comenzar la carrera.
Lo persiguieron a él y a la chica hasta que llegaron a un lugar y él le señaló un camino para que siguiera corriendo y encontrara su camino. Tuvo que detenerse para enfrentarse a los hombres y fue una gran batalla que le dejó una herida en el brazo derecho hasta el día de hoy, aunque mató a los hombres con su habilidad de valiente.
"Ahora, me acordé... ¿Y qué tiene que ver eso con mi hijo? "
"La niña a la que salvaste aquel día era mi única hija y, cuando llegó a casa, narró todo lo sucedido e incluso te describió a ti. Desde entonces te hemos estado buscando y el día que te vimos fue cuando estabas de luto por tu esposa. Mi hijo murió al cabo de unos meses, pero gracias a lo que hiciste aquel día, desde entonces protejo a tu hijo "
Kachi se sorprendió y rápidamente dio las gracias a la voz pero hizo una pregunta "¿Cómo es que ahora eres el guardián del bosque? "
"Fui en busca de poder cuando mi único hijo murió y quise una venganza, me dieron una condición que era ser un guardián del bosque una vez que haya tomado mi venganza y desde entonces, he utilizado mi poder para mantener a su hijo a salvo a pesar de que fue herido, pero te aseguro que está bien "
"¿Cómo puedo ver a mi hijo, por favor? Él es la única esperanza que tengo "
"Kachi, da la vuelta y empieza a ir a casa. Tu hijo te está esperando en casa "
Inmediatamente, se puso en marcha y, al llegar a casa, se encontró con su hijo tumbado en una colchoneta en el exterior durmiendo. Kachi no pudo ocultar su alegría mientras abrazaba y besaba a Jesse.
Un acto de bondad siempre se devuelve incluso cuando crees que lo has olvidado, pero la persona a la que has ayudado no lo ha olvidado.
