Hello lovely friends of this platform, I greet you all from the Western part of Africa (Nigeria).
Today I bring to you something interesting about my country which I love so much, and it's about our different costumes and traditional lifestyle.
Nigeria is a country that is made up of 36 states, and each has its different Local Government Areas, Villages, Tribes, and Traditions. Some of the interesting traditions in my country includes:
- Local Wrestling competitions, where the community would want to know who the strongest man in the village really is. Any man who thinks he is the strongest would step out to declear an open challenge to the other men in the village. In most cases, almost half of the village men would step out to challenge each other, and a tournament will begin to know who the final two men would be.

When the final two wrestlers clashes, the one who falls his opponent on the back would be decleared the winner and he would be greatly rewarded with titles and properties.

What interests me most about this competition is the excitement and energy it brings to the community.
- New Yam Festival, where the community celebrates the newly harvested yam products from their farms. This is an annual traditional celebration that is carried out towards the August to October of every year.
It's in this festival that the first yam would be prepared and eaten by every member of the community.
- Fishing Festival🐟 is a Nigeria traditional ceremony which involves a community fishing competition.
This is really an interesting ceremony as the young men and women of the community divides theirselves into different groups and then go into the water, where they would begin to catch as much fish as possible. At the end of the competition, the group with the highest and biggest fishes would be decleared the winners for the year. To be sincere it's really fun to watch as well as to participate.
- Carnivals and Coronations: Welcome to my country where carnivals are beautifully displayed in style.
We dress in beautiful cultural attires and dance around the entire city with so much excitements. In most cases, this occasion is accompanied with so much foods and drinks. Tourists from all over the world visits my country to witness this amazing tradition.
