Types of Fibriods.
Fibriods can be categorised based on their location:
Subserosal fibriods.
These are found on the outer layer of the womb, on the outside.Intramural fibriods.
These are found in the middle layer of the womb. This middle layer is the muscle. Some fibriods are found in the middle of this muscle tissue.Submucosal fibriods
These are found in the innermost layer of the womb. The innermost layer is the part closest to a baby growing in the womb.
There is another type called Pedunculated submucosal. This type is connected by a stalk like a tiny branch out.
The location of the fibriod determines the symptoms you feel or the signs detected.
The location(and size) determines if you will feel pain or if you will experience bleeding.
The size and location of a fibriod also determines fertility of a woman although only 5% - 10% of infertile women have fibriods.
