It was a breezy sunny afternoon. Harriet had chosen a park bench near the tall Jacaranda tree close to the center of the lush green park. The moderately strong breeze rustled the Jacaranda branches dropping more indigo flowers to the ground than usual.

What a romantic scene! She glanced at her watch as she thought to herself, why is he delaying? It was already ten minutes past 3pm. She couldn't believe she had been waiting for James, the love of her life and her best friend for over twenty minutes.
It felt like ages as time seemed to drag more than usual. Anger was starting to build up inside her, owing to the fact that she had waited three months for this day.
James is a military man and being a military man comes with a lot of responsibilities. One among these responsibilities is that they are bound to heed to calls whenever they are summoned irrespective of what the call might be about. They really don't have any option than to go wherever they are asked to go.
James had to travel down to Nigeria to fight a war against Boko Haram, a terrorist organisation who are based in the Northeastern part of Nigeria. This terrorist organisation is also active in Niger, Chad and northern Cameroon. They are known for their brutality and since this group started, they've killed tens of thousands of innocent souls.
Before James left for the war, he decided to propose to Harriet, his long time girlfriend and best friend. He thought that proposing to her would give him something to live for, and it would motivate him to stay alive in the battlefield.

And so, he planned a surprise dinner for both of them where he proposed to her and luckily for him, she accepted his proposal wholeheartedly. Although she was skeptical about him going for the mission but what can she do?
She can only hope that he comes back to her safely, even though she had this strong believe that he would definitely be back. This duo ended their dinner sharing a romantic moment together while dancing to their favourite song.
James left the next day and since then, they've only communicated on phone. Hearing her voice every day gave him the motivation he needed to survive the war.
So sorry for making you wait so long, a baritone voice spoke softly from behind her.
She must have been so deep in thought that she didn't notice James walking up to the bench. She turned around and there he was. A tall figure with a smile to kill, holding a bouquet of flowers out to her.

Excitement took over her body as she ran to embrace him tightly. When they finally broke the long embrace, James brought out a speaker.
"I really miss dancing to our song with you, and so I brought a wireless speaker. Believe me dear, I miss you so much."
He turned it on and slow romantic music filled the air. Another embrace followed, but this time they danced slowly to the rhythm of the music. Harriet couldn't mind the LONG WAIT, since the satisfaction she felt now seemed to have been worth it. At this moment, the sun seemed to come to life, smiling at them, and cheering them on.
More Jacaranda flowers fell, but this time they had taken the shape of love hearts. If it had been up to her, she would have let that moment go on forever.
At last, her love was here with her. That's all that matters to her.
