I was ready to say goodbye to my life, goodbye to all whom I loved. Just when I sat on the rock that broke my leg, a roaring engine sound echoed through the mountains. As I heard the car come closer, I closed my eyes, ready to embrace my death.
"Hey, get in!"
The car stopped right beside me, I looked up, and I saw a familiar face, it was Ken.
"Hey Carl get in", Ken said. I believe you don't want to be devoured by these hunters".
I tried to get up and 'walk' towards the car while dragging my broken leg behind me. Ken immediately took off, and told me what happened to him. To keep the long story short, he was just gaming, minding his own business, while suddenly he heard everyone outside going crazy and hunting others, it was truly some crazy stuff.
We drove until we met others who we allowed to join us in the car. We decided to continue North until we get to a safe place. I still don't know how Ken knew where I was, or why he was going the same way, but I have nothing to worry because I trust him.
We drove for a couple of days until we came across a gas station and decided to refill the tank since a car obviously needs fuel to continue working. We parked a few meters further so if there were scavengers or as Ken calls them 'Hunters', they couldn't hear them, and we could surprise them.
First things first though, let's find some sticks to make a splint for your leg, Ken said. A few minutes passed, and we got my leg in a splint and made a cane so I could walk, or more stumble forward. Ken handed me a sniper rifle and said that I should go find a rooftop where I have a visual on the gas station.
"Why do I have to do the sniping?" I asked Ken.
"Well, you can't really fight can you?"
I nodded and entered a building that had a visual on the station. Ken went closer to the gas station, he stopped so he could hide for the scavengers. We both saw no-one nearby, and so Ken grabbed his gallons and started filling them up.
Suddenly, a group of scavengers came around the corner, all of them jumped on Ken at once. I completely froze as I saw Ken killing the scavengers from a distance. Ken grabbed his pocket knife and slashed the first one through the stomach making all of his intestines fall out, turning around, he stabbed another on his thigh, and then slashed his throat. There were still 3 guys left, and I was still completely frozen, unable to do anything.
Ken was able to beat the third one to the ground, making him completely knocked out, while one of the other 2 grabbed him from behind, making him unable to move. Just as he was being held by one of the scavengers, the other approached him about to knock him down.

I couldn't get a good shot because I wasn't a professional, but I knew that was my last chance, and I had to do something now or Ken might not survive.
Trying to take my aim, finger on the trigger, and then, BANG.
