In most secondary schools, all those who wished to occupy the different posts would work as acting-prefects for a period of 3 weeks before the election.
At that time, there were 2 male students acting for dining Prefect, hence the campaign in the hostel was heated.
One of the students promised all the junior students that he would serve them 6 pieces of akara (beans cake) on Saturdays instead of the usual 5 pieces when they elect him the dining Prefect. Meanwhile, the other student was already serving them one extra piece of akara throughout the period he was acting.
