Chorthippus brunneus, also known as the common grasshopper, is a species of grasshopper in the subfamily Gomphocerinae. Chorthippus brunneus are mostly brown in color however they show a large variety of colors and can also be black, green. These grasshoppers prefer dry habitats. They are present in higher numbers in grassland areas as compared to agricultural areas.
