Kepa Arrizabalaga was the culprit behind Chelsea's failure to win the 2021/2022 Carabao Cup. The Spanish goalkeeper opened his voice after missing a penalty.
In the match at Wembley, Sunday (27/2/2022) night WIB, Chelsea lost 10-11 to Liverpool. The game lasted until the penalty shootout.
During the goalkeeper fight, Liverpool's 11 penalty takers were able to net the ball. Kepa as the executor of Chelsea sent the ball shot over the goal.
Various criticisms have been leveled at Kepa for his poor penalty execution technique. One of them was spoken by former Liverpool player, Jamie Redknapp.
Kepa did not give a press statement after the match. The 27-year-old goalkeeper finally opened his voice via social media, Twitter.
Fall to get up. Disappointed after great effort during the tournament. We continue to work. Thank you to the family at Chelsea, for the support," said Kepa, uploading a photo of himself receiving welcome from his team-mates.
Chelsea can still win the trophy in two more competitions. They still survive in the FA Cup and Champions League.
In the FA Cup, Chelsea have reached the fourth round and will face Luton Town. While in the Champions League, the Blues have reached the round of 16, pocketing a 2-0 advantage over Lille in the first leg.
Kepa was signed by Chelsea in early 2018/2019. He joined Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao for a ransom of £71.6 million. He has donated four trophies, one of which is the Club World Cup title this year and the Champions League last season. @cristino
