According to reports, Arsenal has advanced in its £45 million acquisition of Riccardo Calafiori. This week, the Gunners and Bologna were locked in negotiations as they were unable to come to an agreement on terms for a mega-money transfer. After leading Italy to victory at the Euros, Calafiori has been in increasing popularity this summer. And Arsenal wanted to convince Bologna to take money in return for Jakub Kiwior. The Poland star was hesitant to transfer, though, so Arsenal's acquisition of Calafiori was precarious. However, Fabrizio Romano now asserts that the Gunners have at last achieved a breakthrough in negotiations.
Bologna is said to have accepted a price of £40 million for its star player, with an additional £5 million in add-ons. Additionally, because a sell-on provision was inserted, they will be entitled to a sizeable portion of Calafiori's next transfer. The center back, who Chelsea had previously targeted, has already agreed to terms on a personal basis with Arsenal. And a previous agreement between Bologna and Basel, Calafiori's former team, is the only thing delaying the deal.
