Heartbreaking condolences have been sent in for a football player in his 30s who passed away after allegedly being assaulted after a night out.
After sustaining "severe head injuries," James Hitchcock, a goalie for Barton Town FC, died "peacefully" in the hospital.
The married father of one passed away from wounds he received after an altercation at York train station on Sunday night at approximately 8:45 p.m.
Mckenzie Dicicco, age 22, has been taken into custody and face charges of affray and homicide, based on British Transport Police.
Dicicco has an appointment at the York Magistrates' Court.
Barton Town's gloomy social media announcement of Hitchcock's passing earlier sparked a flood of tributes.
In honor of Hitchcock, all of the club's sunday matches have been postponed.
