Manager Ronald Koeman announced that Steven Bergwijn's "book is closed with us," leading to his removal from the Netherlands national team.
The 26-year-old attacker's move to Saudi Pro League team Al-Ittihad for £17.6 million was reported by Ajax on Monday. To play Germany in Amsterdam on Tuesday and Bosnia & Herzegovina in Eindhoven on Saturday, Koeman has chosen a large number of the stars who competed in Euro 2024.
However, Bergwijn, a disappointment for Tottenham, has been kept out of the lineup before the international break. After relocating to Saudi Arabia, Koeman angrily informed reporters during a news conference on Tuesday that Bergwijn's international career was gone. Prior to starting his senior career with PSV Eindhoven, Bergwijn advanced through the youth ranks of Ajax and the latter. The winger also completed a £27 million move to Spurs in January 2020, but he was unable to make an impression there, and two years later, he returned to Ajax in a £26.4 million deal.
