In his disagreement with Paul Mitchell, the new sporting director, Eddie Howe has the support of Darren Eales, the chief executive of Newcastle.
Since Mitchell took over as manager in July, the two have disagreed about transfers and the team's style of play. Eales is believed to have thrown his complete support behind Toon manager Howe. It is also thought that the tensions that already existed were heightened by an interview that Mitchell gave yesterday in which he criticized the scouting and recruitment divisions.
Meanwhile , Newcastle are also looking forward to hold on to their manager as he has been offered the England national team men football coaching job.
Mitchell's confrontational style alarmed some members of Howe's coaching staff, and a meeting with the players also went badly. Howe has been a big success at Newcastle, preventing them from going down to the Championship League in his second season there. He was not impressed by Mitchell's transfer negotiations, though, and he has had a challenging summer. He was unable to sign Marc Guehi, the top target, or the right winger Howe asked for.
