A world-record £930,000 bid by Arsenal for England midfielder Kiera Walsh was rejected in the last moments of the Women's Super League recruitment window. Despite having one year remaining on her Barca contract, the 27-year-old is a "essential player" for the European champions heading into the new campaign. She has won two domestic and European crowns with the Spanish side.
After Barcelona turned down a record-breaking offer in the last hours of the Women's Super League (WSL) transfer window, Arsenal was prevented from pursuing Keira Walsh.
The England player joined the Spanish powerhouses from Manchester City in 2022 for a then-world history amount of £400,000. The Gunners reportedly made an offer of £930,000 for him.
The WSL window closed on Friday at 11 p.m. UK time, and Barcelona has until Monday to sign players.
