Brentford is prepared to lower their asking amount of less than £50 million for Ivan Toney since they are not receiving any interest. Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea have all informed Brentford that they do not intend to submit a bid for the England striker.
That means that his most likely suitors are West Ham and Tottenham. After Toney's eight-month gambling ban ended in January, Brentford had planned to hold an auction, with the primary goal being to raise more than £80 million. However, during the winter transfer window, Toney received no offers, and the team was taken aback by the lack of interest this summer.
Arsenal's main transfer Target is not a striker this summer, Chelsea on other hand believes Toney is to old compared to the young squad they are trying to build while Manchester United have completed the transfer of Netherland international Joshua Zirkzee.
The fact that Brentford has been preparing for Toney's exit for more than a year and has already signed his replacement complicates their situation. Manager Thomas Frank will find it difficult to fit both players into his first-team plans after Brentford shattered their transfer record in February by paying Club Brugge £31 million for Brazilian striker Igor Thiago. Toney is eager to leave Brentford this summer, although he has expressed a wish to play for a premier team that takes home championships on a regular basis.
In an attempt to sign a free transfer to a major team the next summer, the 28-year-old may decide to finish out his remaining year at Brentford, albeit this might put him at odds with his employers.
