Tomorrow is the last day of the round of 16, so far in this round, as opposed to the group stage, there have been no surprises. All the big names have gone through and in reality the one who had it the toughest was Croatia who had to go to the penalty shots to make it through. We are looking at some very good games like:
Argentina-Netherlands
France-England
Brazil-Croatia
Of these three apparently the Brazil-Croatia match is the least balanced, I see a much superior Brazil, which of course means nothing in football as things can go any way in the 100 minutes these games are lasting. Still I think Brazil can go through without too many problems. The other two matches are much more balanced, even though I do favor France and Argentina going through.
This just leaves us with tomorrow's two games to have the quarter finals complete. Spain plays Morocco and Portugal plays Switzerland. Favorites? Portugal and Spain of course, but if these two do qualify it will in no wal be east, Switzerland is a hard team that fights to the end, and Morocco, well I have always thought Morocco plays very technical football, they should have a good match against Spain. But let's say logic does impose itself and Spain and Portugal do make it through, they will then face each other.
I think statistically Spain have the edge, but Portugal actually have a more experienced team. So I really don't care to make predictions for this game if it happens. I am a Portugal fan, but I know things will get very difficult. I would like them to make it at least to the semi finals though.
