CONMEBOL finished its qualifying round today barring the suspended Brazil-Argentina game which in my view should not even be played, if it is played no matter the result Brazil ends up in first place and Argentina in second.
Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador and Uruguay were already qualified for Qatar so the only interesting thing today was who would get the fifth place to be able to dispute a spot at the World Cup in a playoff with Australia. Peru just had to win to get that spot, and that is what they did, now they have a chance of making it to Qatar, they are actually 90 minutes away. I think it is actually a very even match Australia is a good team and Peru are not really as good as other top South American teams. Being it is just one game I am expecting a thriller.
This leaves Colombia and Chile completely out of the World Cup. I am not a big Peruvian football sympathizer but today I was rooting for them, all through this qualifier they have had to endure refereeing mistakes that made them lose points, at least now the World Cup spot is up to them, I hope they make it.
