Saturday night, Denmark played the first international match of the year, when they met the Netherlands away in Amsterdam. It was the first time in 10 years that the two crews faced each other. The most recent meeting was at the European Championship finals in 2012, where Denmark won 1-0 on a Michael Krohn-Dehli scoring. In the Danes' starting line-up, there had been room for tonight's match for, among others, Alexander Bah and Jesper Lindstrøm.
Even though there were a few small experiments, it did not give the Danes an extra push. From the very beginning of the match, Holland stood on it all in the first 45 minutes of the match. Throughout the half, the home team made it extremely difficult for the Danish guests to set up the game. The high Dutch pressure forced the Danes to pass into the field with high risk, which the home team's players picked up.
After a quarter of an hour, the Danes could no longer withstand the Dutch pressure. A post from Daley Blind ended up in the forehead of Tottenham player Steven Bergwijn, who steered the ball over the head of the Danish goalkeeper and captain Kasper Schmeichel.
