For a number of successful years, the current Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira was a profile for Arsenal. Monday night, Vieira was so up against his former club when there was a London showdown at Selhurst Park and here the home team clearly started best.
For Crystal Palace, Joachim Andersen played the entire match and very surprisingly, the Danish national team player made two assists in the first half. First he headed the ball on to Jean-Philippe Mateta before he with a nice long pass played Jordan Ayew free and the African scored to 2-0. At both goals, Arsenal's central defender - Gabriel - looked something bad.
Throughout the second half, the home team withdrew violently and Mikel Arteta bet heavily, which gave a game advantage as well as some good chances, among others to Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Ødegaard. However, the Norwegian was not done fooling himself. With twenty minutes left, he made a stupid penalty kick on Wilfried Zaha, which he himself scored on to the whole 3-0.
Ødegaard probably misused a great chance before substitute Edward Nketiah sent the ball on the triangle joint, so it ended with a Vieira slap to Arsenal.
