Touring the Los Alerces National Park, recognized as a World Heritage Site. [ENG-ESP]

There are plants that are beautiful just by looking at them. For its flowers, for its branches, for its foliage, for the imposing height, etc.

Let's imagine finding a whole forest of them. To the point that it becomes a protected area considered of national interest and, sometimes, even worldwide.

Getting, in some cases, to be proclaimed a Unesco Heritage.

In the previous post I had told you about Los Alerces National Park, a protected area in Argentina that has an entire forest of these plants, some of them more than one hundred years old.

Today I am going to talk to you about another National Park populated by a whole forest of another species of plants not too far from the previous one: I am talking about ** Los Alerces National Park ** which, as its name says, has an entire forest of this beautiful plant.

Parque Nacional "Los Alerces".

Los Alerces National Park, located in the west of the province of Chubut, occupies a total area of 259,822 hectares that places it fourth in size among the national parks of Argentina.

In 2017, UNESCO declared 188,379 hectares of Los Alerces National Park World Heritage, of which more than seven thousand protect Millennial Alerces Forests (Fitzroya cupressoides), with specimens that reach 2,600 years of existence.

The larch is an evergreen tree that reaches 40-60 m in height (exceptionally more than 70 m), with diameters of up to 5 m.

In 1993 the analysis of a Chilean specimen in the Alerce Costero National Park, in the Los Ríos Region, between the communes of La Unión and Corral, documented an age of 3,622 years. They are classified as an Endangered species.

Trails and Viewpoints. / Senderos y Miradores.

The Park is not only well preserved and protected in terms of its tree species, particularly the larch trees, but it is also very well prepared so that the visitor can enjoy and learn with his visit, through trails and predisposed viewpoints in places from which the view of the park, as a whole, is excellent.
