I'm Going to Perfect You Soon

Do you like Cakes?

Well if you do, then we share the same likes but are you picky?

I'm sure there are lots of cafes and bakeries that can give you perfect and delicious cakes but as for me, I prefer to make my own. I honestly think that the ones sold are pricey and I can only have a little slice. I have this attitude that I want to make the things that I like, and I just can't remember when I got and how I had this attitude that "it's good to learn everything even at its basic". Perhaps I wanted to be ready in life that wherever may it put me, I will have the tools to strive in life

I'm a a Copy Cat

Yes, I am a copy cat! I don't know but everything my sisters do, I want to do it too. Perhaps I have these dreams in me and awaken when someone close to me is doing it. It's good to have a person who has the same interests as yours, ain't it?

A few years ago, my sister got interested in baking, she enrolled in vocational courses and borrowed ovens from close friends to try baking and once she got so lucky to enroll in a baking class in 2019, and in 2020, the sponsor company gave them each a convection oven.

She baked cakes and I wanted to try too but I never had any idea, so I offered her my assistance so I could see how she does it ns when my son's birthday came, I asked her to make cakes for me (four of us are having birthdays in my husband's side of the family), she got so lazy and asked me to do it instead! Boy, I was very happy because she let me borrow her oven and I get to practice what I saw her doing.

Since then, I had been baling but not regularly; baking is costly. But last month , during my neice's birthday, my sister borrowed my our aunt's convection oven and I asked her not to return it yet until mine and my son's birthday. So she did bribing our aunt with a layer of cake.

I still have a lot to learn in baking; I cannot go to classes because obviously, baking classes are pricey and some offers in TESDA, require daily attendance or we will be paying for them. Seems unfair so I resorted to YouTube University instead.

My sister does boiled icing, this way, the egg whites won't smell and I love it too. I tried to copy her, combining what I saw in video tutorials, and finally made icing to my choco moist cake.

The boiled Icing procedure includes caramelizing 1cup sugar with 1/3 cup of water; separating three egg whites from the yolks, and beating them to it's peak then adding the caramel gradually and beating up to 7 minutes more.

This is the yolks I separated from the egg whites during my icing making

I only used half of the cake I baked because we already consumed teh rest of it.

I cut the cake in half adding icing in between and then I found out that my icing started to melt. Puting icing on that cake is a huge struggle for me too

As I coated the cake, crumbs joins the icing making it look uninviting, but still. I continued to do it because I was left with no choice.

Finally, I added decoration to the cake and it might look good here but after setting it into the chiller, the icing melted off sending itself to the base.

I was disappointed with my work thinking about where might have I gotten it wrong but I did not lose hope that soon, with more practice, I might get it perfect and I am not giving up.

I have been juggling things these days, things that I think will give me a living if the tables turn.

I have bits of everything but I am enjoying it, growing with it as the days pass by.

My kids enjoyed the cake and icing I made even though it lacked presentability; it still tastes good, great even and I got to satisfy my sweet tooth and learn something.

This will be all for now, thank you so much for your time and support if you have reached this far.
