Chicken Eggs Hatched

During the first six months of the pandemic here in the Philippines, online selling on Facebook boomed. Each one of us here were thinking of any extra income that could help support our daily needs. Food delivery is one of the most indemand.

There was one time, I ordered a tray of 16-days-old chicken eggs online, because my kids love 'balut'. Balut is steamed 16 to 18-days-old egg. One tray is too many for the four of us. So, I just steamed only a few everyday. On the 19th day of the eggs, they're no longer edible for us, because they already taste bitter and the chicks were already big. The remaining raw eggs were just put inside an open container.

After a few days, five eggs hatched and some didn't. My kids were so amazed and so happy, because it was their first time to see eggs hatching. But sadly, only two chicks survived. The three chicks were chased by a cat and were eaten. After 2 months, I told the kids they need to let go of the chickens, because they're already big enough and can now be cooked. Too much explanations and at last, I was able to convince them. So, you know what happened after that. ☺️
