As I announced in the previous post in this article I will briefly explain what the Mille Miglia is.
First of all it is good to say right away that the Mille Miglia has had 2 lives. In fact, this competition was first born as a speed race and then totally changed and became a regularity race.
This competition takes place in Italy on a route that starts in Brescia and always returns to Brescia via Rome. So it is a competition that takes place in Italy and its name comes from the length of the route, that is, 1000 miles.
The first race was held in 1927 and several editions followed until 1957, after which, following a serious accident, the competition was stopped and judged to be out of safety standards.
It was in 1977 that the Mille Miglia was reborn again as a regularity race in which cars produced before 1957 and which had participated in previous editions, that is, those from 1927 to 1957, could participate. This explains why today the Mille Miglia is the most popular classic car sports competition in Italy.
In 2017 the 90th year since the competition began was celebrated and it remains to date the year with the most participants. As many as 705 cars were entered in that edition. In that edition, Toto Wolff, Arturo Merzario, John Watson, Jochen Mass and Romain Dumas participated.

Come avevo annunciato nel post precedente in questo articolo spiegheró in breve cos'è la Mille Miglia.
Prima di tutto è bene dire subito che la Mille Miglia ha avuto 2 vite. Infatti questa competizione nasce prima come gara di velocità per poi cambiare totalmente e diventare una gara di regolarità.
Questa competizione si svolge in Italia su un percorso che parte da Brescia e ritorna sempre a Brescia passando da Roma. Quindi è una competizione che si svolge in Italia ed il suo nome deriva dalla lunghezza del percorso, cioè 1000 miglia.
La prima gara fu disputata nel 1927 e si sono susseguite varie edizioni fino al 1957, dopodichè, a seguito di un grave incidente, la competizione fu interrotta e giudicata fuori dagli standard di sicurezza.
È nel 1977 che la Mille Miglia rinasce nuovamente come una gara di regolarità in cui potevano partecipare le auto prodotte prima del 1957 e che avevano partecipato alle edizioni precedenti, cioè quelle che andavano dal 1927 al 1957. Ecco spiegato perché oggi la Mille Miglia è la competizione sportiva d’auto d’epoca più popolare in Italia.
Nel 2017 si è festeggiato il 90esimo anno dall’inizio della competizione e rimane ad oggi l’anno con più partecipanti. In quell’edizione vennero iscritte ben 705 autovetture. In quell’edizione parteciparono: Toto Wolff, Arturo Merzario, John Watson, Jochen Mass e Romain Dumas.
