Hi blurters! Now I will tell you about nilgiri of bandarban. This is the very nice place of bangladesh. So lets starts -
In a few days, after posting pictures of some places of interest in the hilly district of Bandarban on the blog of BD News 24, I got a huge response from respected bloggers and readers. I wanted to share with the reader the beauty I saw in Bandarban and my fascination. But in order to satisfy the curiosity and demand of the esteemed readers, this post has been created in a slightly different way by combining their own experience and the information found in Wikipedia.I have a habit of collecting as much information as possible on that place before going on a trip. I hope those who visit Bandarban will also benefit from this post.
Bandarban is one of the three hill districts in the south-east of Bangladesh. The distance from Chittagong to Bandarban is 75 kilometers. Bandarban district has an area of 4469 sq km. Bandarban is the least populated place among the three hill districts of Bangladesh. The whole of Chittagong, including Bandarban, existed on the first map of Bengal drawn around 1550. However, about 800 years ago, in 953, the king of Arakan conquered this region. The king of Tripura occupied this area around 1240. The king of Arakan recaptured the area in 1575, and held it for 16 years. The Mughal Empire ruled the area under Suba Bengal from 18 to 180. In 180, the British East India Company took control of the area. In 180 it was annexed as part of British India. The British named this area Chittagong Hill Tracts or Chittagong Hill Tracts. It belonged to the province of Bengal as part of Chittagong district. In 1947, the area became part of East Pakistan. After the independence of Bangladesh in 961, it was included as a district of Bangladesh. In the early eighties, the Chittagong Hill Tracts was divided into three districts - Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachhari.
Bandarban Sadar is the residence of Marma king Anshu Pru.
Bandarban district has become an important tourist destination in Bangladesh due to its natural diversity. Tajingdong (1003 m), the highest mountain in Bangladesh, is located in Bandarban district, also known as "Vijay" or "Madak Mual". The second largest mountain in the country, Keokradong (63 m) and the highest canal, Raikhiang, are located in the district. The other two places of interest here are Chimbuk Hills and Boga Lake. The two nearest tourist attractions to Bandarban are Nilachal and Meghla. However, the Nilgiris, about half a kilometer away from the city, have become the focal point of the current tourist attraction. One of the rivers of this district is Sangu river which is also known as Sangpo or conch. The special feature of this river is that it is the only river in Bangladesh which flows from south to north. Other rivers include Matamuhuri and Bankkhali.
The largest Buddhist temple in Bangladesh is located at Balaghata, about 4 km from Bandarban city. It is built entirely in imitation of the temples of South-West Asia and has the second largest Buddhist statue in Bangladesh. Locally it is known as "Buddha Dhatu Jadi". Besides, Rajbihar of Jadipara and Bihar of Ujanipara are within the city.On the way from the city to Chimbuk you have to go to the villages of Bom and Mro tribes. Prantik Lake, Jivannagar and Kiachalong Lake are some other notable tourist destinations. There is also the Meghla Safari Park, which has two full suspension bridges. Boat trips on the Sangu River can be a delightful experience for those who love to travel. Shail Prapat is an interesting hill spring located at a distance of 8 km from Bandarban city. When it comes to listing places of interest in Bandarban,
Gakain Lake or Boga Lake or locally named Bagalek is one of the highest freshwater lakes in Bangladesh. About 70 km from Bandarban town, Bagakain Lake is located on the foothills of Keokkaradong Mountain, in Ruma Upazila. It is about 2,000 feet above sea level (3,172 feet above sea level). The strange structure of Boga Lake on the top of another small funnel-shaped hill is much like a volcanic eruption.
Naitang Mouza is a mouza located 29 km east of Ruma Upazila on the banks of the river Shankha. The lake is located on the top of a hill in the Palitai mountain range of this mouza.
According to geologists in Bangladesh, Lake Bagakain is the result of a volcanic eruption of a dead volcano or the fall of a meteorite from space. Many have also suggested that landslides could be the cause. It is composed of soft rocks of Bhuban Foundation. Its water is quite acidic. That is why it does not contain any algae or other aquatic plants. No aquatic animals can live here.
Next to Bagalek there is a Bom Para (Bagamukhpara) and a Murang Para. The indigenous peoples are Bom, Murang or Mro, Thanchangya and other tribes including Tripura. According to local mythology, a long time ago a dragon lived in a cave in the mountains. In Bam language, the dragon is called "Boga". The locals used to offer cattle to please the dragon god.
On the way to Nilgiris you can see the immense beautiful cliffs of Bandarban. Indigenous Bum young women will welcome you here. From here you can buy various products made by the indigenous people. After that the dream peak will catch the eye. The amazing beauty of Bandarban can also be enjoyed from Sapnachura.
You will reach Chimbu after the dream peak. Chimbuk is famous all over the country. Here is the huge tower of T&T, the development board has built a rest house with all the facilities. There is also an old rest house of Roads and Highways Department.
After reaching Chimbu, you can have a cup of tea made by the local tribes and leave for Nilgiris. Or an army-run canteen a short distance away. Here you can have lunch or light meals.
The most interesting thing about Nilgiris is the spiral Sangu river flowing over Bandarban from here. From here it seems that Sangu river is very close to you. The magnificent beauty of the Sangu River can be enjoyed from here. If you see the small boats flowing through the Sangu's chest, you will think from a distance which dinghy of your dreams is sailing along the Sangu river.
For accommodation and overnight stay at the Niligiri Resort with state-of-the-art facilities located here, one has to contact the Bandarban Brigade Headquarters of the Army in advance. The Nilgiris Resort is a wonderful place to keep in mind the breathtaking views of nature. Three cottages with all facilities for tourists named Akashnila, Meghdoot, Nilatana have been built at Nilgiri tourist center in the remote hills.
