When I first saw Besenovac lake on the Fruska Gora mountain in Serbia, I felt as if I was on the sea shore, and often when I feel the need to be at the sea, I visit lakes because being there relaxes me and partly fulfills my desire for the sea.
Besenovac lake is a hidden gem that many people don't know about, because Fruska gora mountain is usually visited for a picnic in the forest or for lunch or coffee in many restaurants in a beautiful natural setting.
But if you start exploring the area, you will find amazing places, ideal for resting your eyes.
The Besenovac lake was created on the site of a former mine from which the cement company mined ore. When the mine was abandoned, the place spontaneously began to fill with water years later and reached a depth of over 50 meters.
This lake is also called White Stone because it is surrounded by white rocks.
The water is very clean and transparent, and it is considered medicinal due to its mineral composition, as it has beneficial effects on health. Even the mud by the coast is medicinal, so tourists often coat themselves with it.
I have never swam in this lake. I don't think swimming is allowed, although I have seen tourists doing it many times. However, there are more who just enjoy lying on the shore and watching the turquoise color of the water.
The Besenovac lake used to be frequented by fishermen because of the different types of fish that can be found in it, but this has become less common in recent times. It's probably because there are less fish.
But whatever reason you find for visiting this lake, this place is worth it. The peace and quiet will make you feel very good. Especially if you like to stay by the water and enjoy its well-being effects.
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
