Hello everyone. As I mentioned in my previous post this summer when I was coming back from vacation in Greece, I spent a few days in Vranje, a small town in the south of Serbia. I could have assumed and expected everything, that I would eat delicious traditional food, that I would visit museums, walk through authentic streets and a well-kept park, meet great people but I did not believe that I would see a tiger in this town! 😊 A real tiger.😊
I know of three cities in Serbia that have a Zoo, and one of them is my city, Belgrade. But it would never have occurred to me that there is also a Zoo on the outskirts of Vranje.
I generally don't like zoos because it makes me sad when I see all those closed animals, but what made me happy when I saw this zoo is that it is located in a beautiful natural environment and that the animals have a little more space and freedom of movement than is the case with the Zoo in Belgrade.
We saw a lot of interesting birds there.
The blue crane bird, which inhabits South Africa and is its symbol, attracted my special attention.
There were also a lot of flamingos.
And a beautiful white owl with yellow eyes that I have never seen before. It's a Snowy owl.
I think the chickens that were free in the meadow felt the best.
As well as llamas, which also had a spacious living space. My son fed them a little, but he was careful all the time that they wouldn't spit on him. 😊
We also saw a kangaroo.
Raccoons...
A monkey who hung out with us a little and even offered us his hand to get to know each other. 😊
A donkey who seemed very benevolent.
Lots of beautiful horses.
And there were also an old carriages.
And then we entered the danger zone. 😊 I don't know why, but whenever I see lions I feel some sadness. Probably because they seem sad, lonely and sleepy. This is not their place and it seems that they are not happy to be confined like that.
The same goes for the tiger. He looks like he's pretty bored here. My son was delighted because the tiger came very close to the fence and we could see it very well.
Despite the mixed feelings, we had a great time, getting to know all these animals and communicating with them and getting to know this area as well, the green expanse of nature in the south of Serbia.
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
Greetings!
Jelena
