Lauren and her shadow
I’m not in the prime of my life, in fact I am so far removed from it that without the photographic evidence I would dispute it ever happened; I seem to have been middle aged/old for so long. So I always feel a tad uncomfortable shooting nude females. Especially when I could legitimately be their dad, if not grandad (age wise not biologically of course). Lauren is a totally different kettle of fish. Just going off topic a minute, but isn’t that an odd expression. I had to stop typing and *Google *where it came from and I’m not really sure that I am any wiser. It all seems a bit vague. Hey ho, perhaps not worth losing sleep over and most people seem to know what it means so lets move on.
Bright lights
So back on topic. Lauren is so uninhibited, so comfortable in her own skin, you almost forget she isn’t wearing clothes. She also models beautifully. She is so flexible – some of the positions she gets into almost makes me wince. But wow, does it make for some great photography. I had worked with her on a group shoot previously and missed out working with her again on a group shoot. This time was my first one to one shoot at a friend’s studio.
Lauren pulling a pose
She absolutely smashed it out of the ballpark (in my opinion). She pulled some great shapes and understands lighting enough to grasp where she needed to be and how she could pose to bring out some great shadows.
There’s a lot of talk in the photography community about “guys with cameras” art nude, erotic art etc. It’s apparent that some guys do just want some beautiful nude woman in front of them, just for the kicks, others claim that they only shoot “art nude” – which I find very subjective. Some that I have seen that the photographer claims is “art nude” is so far from art in my opinion its more just a gratuitous skin shot.
I don’t think I am talented enough a photographer to actually create art. I just do the best I can. I am much happier undertaking a fashion shoot than I am a nude shoot. I know that I don’t want a gratuitous nude shot (although I am guessing that a few people will think of my work as just that). I do try to bring out the model’s femininity and hope that’s what shows on these images. But as photography is such a subjective medium I will let you make your own minds up.
Nice job 👍
Beautiful 😍
