These trees are more or less common in town, they are South American in origin and I have no idea why they are common here. I imagine they were brought here at the beginnings of the last century by the banana fruit company that made this place their headquarters
What I do know is you can't get too close under the fruits, they are quite big, about three to five pounds and when ripe, something which I can't distinguish, they could fall. I guess a hit on the head with one of this would be painful as well as dangerous.
