In a significant step to reform and reduce the size of the US government, President Donald Trump has extended buyout offers to nearly all federal employees.
His administration informed employees via email on Tuesday that they had until February 6th to determine if they would like to participate in a "deferred resignation" program.
The message stated that they may continue working for full pay till September if they agreed to quit by that date. The Trump administration anticipates that up to 10% of workers may take the offer, or roughly 200,000 out of the two million federal employees.
During the days of the president's elect campaign , he made promises to reduce the expenditure made by the government.
Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy were given the responsibility of heading an advisory group that aimed to reduce federal agency headcounts, spending, and regulations. Since leaving this new Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), Ramaswamy has entered the Ohio gubernatorial race.
