On Monday, angry neighbors assaulted a railway guard and his position in a town outside Cairo when a train ran over and murdered two children, according to officials.
In accordance to the Egyptian National Railways, a crowd gathered at the crossing nearby the town of Bilaydah in the city of Al-Ayat, wherein a train had previously killed two children while attempting to cross in an area not designated for people.
They attacked the guard manning the level crossing, that law enforcement said was off limits at the time, and set fire to his room, according to officials. It wasn't readily apparent what had occurred to the guard.
According to local media, the two children were en route to school.
