For sexually abusing actress Adèle Haenel when the actress was a minor, a French filmmaker was found guilty. Christophe Ruggia was sentenced to four years, the first two of which had been suspended. He is sixty years old.
He will be under home arrest for two years and will also have to keep on an electronic bracelet throughout that time. Ruggia has been sentenced to €15,000 (£12,500) in reparations to Haenel, in addition to €20,000 for the length of time of psychological therapy she received as the consequence of the abuse.
Haenel was between the ages of 12 and 15 at the time of the attacks, and the court president claimed that Ruggia "took advantage" of his power over her.
