On Wednesday, eight miners were killed when mounds of soil crashed on them at an open-pit copper mine in Zambia, according to police.
According to regional police commissioner Peacewell Mweemba, one miner is gone, while two others have survived.
In as statement that was released by state media, out of the people that perished in the mine collapse , six of them were from the same family.
The deceased were not mining firm employees, but rather members of an organization who were searching for copper at the mine with no authorization, which is usual in Zambia.
