According to Nigeria's anti-graft agency, it has seized the largest amount of assets ever, which were purportedly bought with the money obtained through corruption. In the capital, Abuja, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared that it had taken control of a sizable housing complex that included over 750 properties.
According to the statement released by the anti graft agency , the property is said to be owned by an individual who was a high-ranking government official in the previous government, but they were not specific.
The EFCC was established in 2003 to combat corruption in a nation where it is thought to be pervasive and present in all governmental institutions.
The property which is situated on a 150 ,000 square meter of land is located at the outskirt of the federal capital territory has left neighbors wondering who is the actual owner of the property.
According to an Abuja-based real estate specialist, the confiscated property would fetch tens of millions of dollars when sold. Even though successive governments have pledged to combat corruption, it continues to rank among Nigeria's most significant issues.
