Tigran Gambaryan, a senior at cryptocurrency business Binance, was granted freedom on Wednesday, October 23, in Nigeria. He has been in detention since February, accused of money laundering with the American company, totaling $35 million.
A Nigerian court determined that Binance manager Tigran Gambaryan ought to be freed after the government dropped money laundering accusations against him, allowing him to seek medical care abroad.
Gambaryan was apparently released owing to a decrease in his health, but the Financial Times reports that it was pressure from diplomats from Washington that prompted the Nigerian government to give up the accusations.
