After a female senator accused the Nigerian Senate's president of sexual assault, the Senate suspended her on Thursday.
The Senate's ethics committee has recommended that Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan be prevented from holding office and that her security and allowances be taken away for six months.
Due to procedural rule infractions, the ethics committee dismissed the charge towards Senate President Godswill Akpabio brought last week by Akpoti-Uduaghan, one of just four women in a 109-seat parliament.
